Satnav sometimes takes people to the next farm along, so…
As you reach the top of the hill near the farm, you’ll cross a cattle grid - take the first left after this. Beware the farm track to the car park - it’s rather bumpy, so take it steady!
The course offers the opportunity to explore the different habitats of the valley, taking time to absorb surroundings, experiencing mindfulness and connection to nature as we look for wild edibles. There will be plenty to discover in meadows, woodland and damp ground. We’ll talk through identification skills, look at ecology, and discuss safe and responsible foraging. There will be a fair amount of walking on and off paths and some ground may be challenging, but foraging is always at a leisurely pace.
Hot soup made with foraged fungi will be provided around an open fire along with various tasters, giving an opportunity to experience flavours and some inspiration around cooking with wild food. Please inform me of any dietary requirements as soon as possible!
Your tutors are Nicola Burgess AKA Calluna Wildcraft, and Colin Unsworth AKA Forest Horizons - both Association of Foragers members with years of experience of teaching.
Please bring:
• Walking boots or wellies - there WILL be mud!
• Waterproof clothing
• Warm layers
• A pocket knife
Paper bags are handy, as are the reusable mesh veg bags form supermarkets (my personal favourite) by all means bring a basket if you have one.
We look forward to seeing you soon!
Colin and Nicola.
