Rewild your body. Reconnect with the Earth.

Foraging in our natural state can be a joyful, grounding experience — a way to reconnect with the land, our bodies, and each other.

Join us for a unique day of wild food foraging in one of three stunning ancient woodlands. Col and Sadie will lead a session in Lancashire, Beth and Neil will host in Somerset, and Siobhan, Chris, and Helen will welcome you to their private woodland in Nidderdale.

Each event offers a chance to explore nature’s edible treasures, learn about seasonal plants and fungi, and celebrate being fully alive in the outdoors. Clothing is optional — curiosity and respect are essential. Come prepared for an uplifting day of learning, laughter, and liberation.

A body-positive foraging day inviting all to experience nature without barriers.
Clothing optional, Nature essential. August 17th

Foraging, Unfiltered

Foraging is a powerful way to connect with nature — a mindful practice that tunes you into the land, the seasons, and your senses.
Mushrooms, plants, fruits, nuts, berries... once you learn to spot wild food, you’ll find that every walk becomes an adventure. It’s a life skill that awakens curiosity and keeps you grounded.
(Warning: once activated, your forager’s eye is hard to switch off!)

Why Clothes-Free?

Being in nature without clothing can enhance your experience of the wild. It’s not about making a statement — it’s about letting go of shame, reconnecting with your body, and feeling the elements as your ancestors did.
Naturism has been shown to support body confidence and mental wellbeing — and when paired with the deep presence of foraging, it becomes a profound act of reconnection.

Join us in celebrating this unique day of nature connection, foraging, and freedom.

Lancashire with Colin & Sadie

Colin and Sadie are passionate advocates for nature connection and wild food foraging.
Colin (known as Forest Horizons on social media) leads workshops on foraging and embodied nature practices. Both he and Sadie are members of the Association of Foragers and bring a refreshingly open, body-positive approach to their events.

In 2022, they undertook a unique adventure — cycling the length of the UK without clothing, alongside Naked Neil and classical musician Hannah. The 1,000-mile journey raised awareness and funds for Rewilding Britain and Mind, blending environmental activism with mental health advocacy.

You may have seen Col and Sadie featured on programmes such as Gardener’s World (talking mushrooms), Jeremy Vine (discussing naturism), and This Morning, where they shared stories from their epic ride.

Their work invites others to reconnect with nature — and themselves — through curiosity, courage, and community.

Somerset with Beth and Neil

Beth is a passionate forager with a gift for connecting people to the natural world.
With a focus on edible mushrooms, she shares her deep knowledge through accessible, engaging teaching — from forest schools to community projects to her own courses. Her hands-on approach encourages people of all ages to develop practical foraging skills and a lasting appreciation for nature.

Beth’s work emphasises sustainability, curiosity, and joy in the outdoors. She’ll be joined by Neil, a fellow forager and member of British Naturism, whose love of the land and commitment to body-positive living adds a welcoming energy to the day.

Celebrate Naked Foraging Day in the peaceful setting of a private rewilding woodland in Nidderdale.
Hosted by Chris and Helen of Make it Wild — a vibrant, family-run conservation project — this event offers a rare chance to explore ancient woodland away from public spaces, immersed in nature’s rhythms.

They’ll be joined by Siobhan from Shony’s Mushrooms in Sheffield, a skilled wild food forager and advocate for deep nature connection. Together, they create a welcoming, body-positive space where you can explore edible plants and fungi, rekindle your senses, and experience the land without barriers.

This is a nourishing, family-friendly day rooted in respect for nature, self, and community — set amid the lush beauty of the Nidderdale Valley.

Forage with Siobhan, Helen and Chris at Make it Wild

Foraging is a joyful and rewarding way to deepen your relationship with the natural world — and you don’t need an official event to get started.

Gather a few like-minded friends and set out on your own wild food adventure! Facebook groups such as Mushroom Spotters UK can help with species identification, but always double-check with trusted guidebooks to ensure accuracy and safety.

If you're foraging on private land, be sure to seek the landowner’s permission, and take a moment to review our guidance on legal considerations for clothing-optional gatherings.

Host Your Own Foraging Day

Frequently asked questions

What if I prefer to stay clothed?

Naked Foraging Day events are body positive and have a focus on acceptance, whatever your attire. All that we ask is that you are positive about body freedom.

What level of foraging experience is needed?

Understanding nature is fascinating whatever your level of knowledge or expertise. Whether you are a complete beginner and curious about foraging or come from a long line of foragers with knowledge passed down through the generations, you are welcome to join us.

Is the event open to first-timers?

Absolutely! We welcome newcomers. Our friendly forage leaders will help you feel comfortable and informed.

What kind of activities are planned?

A forage is a walk in the woods, stopping to learn about different species of mushrooms and plants that we find. Within the forage is a short workshop about embodiment in foraging, where you will reflect on the 'what' and 'when' of nature connections.

Are cameras and phones allowed?

Photo's will be discussed at the start of each forage and anyone's wishes will be respected. Group members will be asked not to take photos during the forage, and photos of consenting participants will be taken by our designated photographer and shared to attendees after the event. No photos will appear online without prior consent.

Two of the forages are to be held in public woodlands. We have chosen the venue and route so that we are not in highly populated areas. It is inevitable that we will encounter members of the public and a few raised eyebrows, but we don't expect any issues.

What should I bring?

Depending on the weather on the day you might want a warm layer. Other than that, bring a cover up (most naturists carry a sarong or piece of fabric that doubles as something to sit on), a basket if you have one, a foragers staff if you have one, and a friendly smile.

Is it ok to wear shoes?

Absolutely! Our forage leaders will be wearing shoes or boots. The forest floor can be sharp and thorny. Some people have a preference for barefoot but we don't advise this in a group activity like foraging unless your feet are already hardened and used to it.

What if I feel uncomfortable or have a problem during the event?

Our event staff will help. You can approach any team member for support or assistance at any time.

Will there be food and drink available?

No, we ask that you bring a sandwich or other snack. We will stop for lunch during the forage.

Are there any toilets?

At Bank Woods (Siobhan's forage), yes. Col & Sadie's forage and Beth & Neil's forage, no. Most foragers can find a spot out of sight...

How is personal privacy and safety ensured?

We prioritize a respectful and safe environment. Any inappropriate behavior is not tolerated and will be challenged and managed.

How do I manage feminine hygiene at a naturist event?

Your comfort and health are important. You’re welcome to use whatever products you normally do — such as tampons, menstrual cups, or period underwear. If you're more comfortable wearing pants or a sarong or light cover-up during your period, that's completely fine. It is normal at naturist venues and events for women to wear something during her time of month. Sadie, Beth or Siobhan are happy to discuss this if you have any questions. Please don’t hesitate to speak to a staff member if you have any concerns — we’re here to support everyone.

Nudity & The Law

A common question is: Is naked foraging legal? The short answer is yes

In the UK, public nudity is legal as long as it’s passive—meaning no intentional causing of alarm or harassment. Examples of passive nudity include walking, cycling, or foraging naked in the countryside.

To help you stay informed and confident, British Naturism provides detailed guidelines outlining the boundaries of acceptable public nudity. We recommend printing their info sheet and carrying it with you during your forages, just in case you need to explain the law to a police officer unfamiliar with these rules.

Remember, a friendly smile goes a long way! 😀
